This photograph was captured by Nick Brandt in 2006. Its dimensions are 42 by 54 inches. It shows a picture of a lion in its natural habitat. Through the landscape of the photo and the expression on the face of the lion we get a sense that the lion feels free and comfortable in its environment. This photo represents how animals should be and stay in their natural habitats. In our culture today, there are too many animals striped of their freedom and taken away from their natural place. Animals are used for our entertainment or education purposes, for example zoos and circuses.  These captured animals cannot feel this sense of freedom that this lion does in the photo.

The artist uses geometric techniques to illustrate a fox in parts as if it was a puzzle, because there are multiple characteristics that make a fox a fox, such as the orange fur and the pointy nose. Other animals are also just puzzles to be solved with their different yet special and unique characteristics

Albrecht used the rhino as his animal subject because he thought that they are invulnerable to anything and everything, which is why the rhino is exaggerated in this wood cut. It looks like it has shining armor, like a knight fighting for his kingdom, but also a tank defending it’s kingdom.
