This sculpture is crafted by Barbara Franc in 2011. Its dimensions are 65 cm by 46 cm by 18 cm. This piece is made from recycled metals, steel and copper wire, decorative tin, keys, cutlery and various pieces from watches. It is called Time Flies. This sculpture represents humans and their relationship with horses. Horses have been a big part of our culture for ages. They were the first vehicles and were used for riding or transporting goods. Humans and horses have had a close relationship, and this sculpture embraces that.

Avery represents animals through where the sharp points of the CDs symbolize animal’s natural side of being wild and dangerous, but the changing colors of the CDs based on the light exposure represents the many attributes the cat contain due to different types of exposure in life, such as knowing when to be fierce and aggressive when being attacked by a predator.

The sculpture itself is made out of natural and recyclable materials found in trash. Using such materials, the artist created a colorful zebra with colorful stripes that looks realistic. The name is a reference to a certain biscuit company some of whose tins I used in this piece, his stable mate Palmer the Zebra is other half of the pair!

This sculpture portrays a hummingbird composed mostly from pieces of CD shards. Its feathers have a unique bright color composed of the shards which represents its unique abilities and characteristics. It’s color and background also portrays the hummingbird an animal that is peaceful in nature.
